Rodin Valery Nikolaevich
Valery Rodin was born in Serov, Sverdlovsk region, on May 1, 1952. In 1974 he graduated from Ural Polytechnic Institute with the major in Thermal Power Plants. After graduation and up to 1988 Valery Rodin worked at Iriklinskaya GRES, Orenburgenergo District Operational Department. He started as a foreman and was promoted further up to the position of Chief Engineer. In 1988 Valery Rodin was appointed as the Chief Engineer of TEO Uralenergo (Yekaterinburg) and in 1992 he became the Chairman of Uralenergo Concern which included the power companies of the Ural region: Sverdlovenergo, Permenergo, Chelyabenergo, Orenburgenergo, Kurganenergo, Kirovenergo, Udmurtenergo, Bashkirenergo. In 1994 Valery Rodin was appointed as Director General of OJSC Sverdlovenergo. For more than 10 years he was in charge of the power sector in Sverdlovsk region, this was the period prior to the reforms. Due to his successful management the power sector of the Central Urals coped with the default of 1998 with success and fulfilled its most strategic task, namely, reliable electricity and heat supply of consumers living in Sverdlovsk region. In 2005 Valery Rodin became the head of OJSC TGK-9 after the project of Sverdlovenergo reorganization. On September 4, 2006, Valery Rodin began to work at OJSC TGK-1 (St. Petersburg) at first as the First Deputy Director General - acting Director General, and later as the Head of the Company. He began the construction of a new power generating unit of Pervomayskaya TPP-14, reached the agreements with the state authorities in Karelia Republic and Murmansk region concerning the expansion of Petrozavodskaya TPP and the construction of Murmansk TPP-2, as well as managed the successful issue of extra shares of TGK-1. Valery Rodin was awarded with the rank of the RF Honorable Power Engineer, Power Sector Veteran, as well as was bestowed the Certificate of Honor granted by the Governor of Sverdlovsk region. On March 27, 2009, the Board of Directors of OJSC IDGC of Urals appointed Valery Rodin as Director General of the Company.
